Writing Your Blog’s Bio

The most important part of a blog, needless to say, is the content. And while your archive of blog posts provides the most valuable information on your chosen field/s of interest, the sidebar also presents your readers more insights as to who you are and what else you have to offer.
Located at the top of your blog’s sidebar should always be your bio. Simply put, it establishes for your readers who you are, your area of expertise and why you are blogging in the first place. What most bloggers usually do nowadays is have a separate About Us page with an expansive biography within their blog, include its first few paragraphs in the bio on the sidebar and append the link below it.
There are various ways of writing a bio, as you may come to expect. Always consider and align your bio with the writing style and overall theme of the entire blog. If your aim is to establish yourself as an authority in your field, you can perhaps include important details like your profession, the brand you represent and a short overview of your job responsibilities and accomplishments. If you want your bio to represent you as an informal and fun individual your readers can easily relate to, you can add humorous details to spruce up your wit-ridden profile.
It’s best to follow up your bio with your contact details. Sure, you may have a separate Contacts page, but having it readily available helps a lot in terms of user experience. This will allow your readers a way to personally contact you, perhaps for engaging in partnerships, business suggestions and for corrections on particular blog posts. As a general rule, you should include your e-mail address, a link to any other Web site you may own and, if you’re using your blog to generate business and wouldn’t mind communications offline, your business’ address and phone numbers.
