Three reputation monitoring tools for Twitter

Grow your business, Twitter |

Huge companies, especially those internationally recognized brands, are often dubious whenever social media is mentioned. One of the reasons is that they feel that they have no control over news dissemination and the flow of conversations about their brand.

As we all know, what they fail (or refuse) to acknowledge is the fact that social media itself is a two-way conversation engine that offers many benefits-from boosting search engine optimization endeavors to increasing the sales of a product.

Twitter, for instance, lives on an organic environment that fosters viral marketing and encourages a healthy relationship between them and their demographic. With the proper marketing techniques and customer service prompts, you can match any negative impressions of your brand with an apt strategic solution.

For starters, you’ll need tools to help you research and monitor social mentions of your brand, your products and services or a promotion you just unleashed. Here are a few of them developed for Twitter some of us here at SEOP.com actually use.

Twitter Search

Twitter’s own Twitter Search carries a pretty hefty feature set, impressive for something that works on a 140-character messaging platform. You can just type in your search terms or select from the trending topics on its landing page. It has an Advanced Search feature to narrow down your search by tweet date, source person, location of the tweet (thanks to Twitter Places) and impression, among others. Also, with Twitter’s search API open to the public, you or a developer can go ahead and create an app tweaked for use as an internal tool for your team.

TwitterWatch

If you need something less intrusive and you’re using Google Chrome as your browser, TwitterWatch is a good extension you can include in your armory. With it, you can monitor up to five keywords at a time on Twitter and it’ll turn up with a list of tweets with your keyword/s. It’ll continue displaying new relevant tweets in the background and its extension icon will even display the number of new posts that have been tweeted since you started the search. Find a tweet you feel the need to immediately respond to or share with your followers? You can retweet or respond to them without having to go to twitter.com through a text box at the bottom of this browser extension.

Analytic.ly

Analytic.ly is a reliable and comprehensive companion for online marketers and brand developers as a solution for analyzing and measuring your Twitter conversations. It lets you get a better understanding of how effective your social media campaign is as it scrapes data off custom databases that contain indexed trending social interactions. The conversations can be searched and organized according Events, Global social media statistical attributes and, of course, both Brands and Keywords.
