The Top Three SEO Trends for 2010

Although there are many acclaimed experts in the Search Engine Optimization industry who provide their own predictions of what the SEO trends for 2010 will be, just by basing on the current trends and by having an open mind to new ideas, a good pulse of what’s coming for the year ahead can be determined.

One of the top trends in SEO for the year 2009, Social Media Optimization, will still remain a top trend for 2010. As more and more companies become aware that social media is the key to gaining more traffic for a website, Social Media Optimization is figuring to continue to reign supreme for the rest of the year. What makes this trend effective is that the campaign really is about building a community and interacting closely with a target market. It tends to focus more on socializing, and less on hard selling.

Another trend that will continue to flourish in 2010 is link development. Though this type of SEO trend is not a new concept, the idea just gets bigger every year, and for 2010, there is just no eliminating this strategy. Although there are two sides to this concept (white hat link building and the black hat point of view, which pertains to link spamming), one cannot deny the fact that the trend has continually been effective. Of course, the strategy can also be made more natural rather than forced if the links are provided with diversity, and First Link Priority is given importance.

Finally, an ongoing trend that looks to be carried on into the next year and the foreseeable future is on-page SEO. Of course, it can be argued that off-page SEO can be more effective as long as the links are given more importance over what is placed in the title tags, meta tags, header tags, and so on. But what many people in the industry don’t realize is that on-page SEO is not just about writing accurate content within the proper tags, but coding websites properly as well. That being said, on-page SEO is indeed a lasting and versatile trend for the industry, as it provides great efficiency and proven results for a marketing campaign.
