+1 Buttons Expand to Google Image Search
Google’s answer to Facebook’s Like button, the +1, has made the crossover to Image search, according to the announcement posted by software engineer Xiaorui Gan over the InsideSearch blog.
“Let’s say you’re looking to summit Mount Kilimanjaro and want to inspire a few of your climbing buddies to join you.” said Gan. “You search for [mount kilimanjaro summit] and switch to Images mode to find rows and rows of photos testifying that this peak can indeed be conquered. By hovering over one of the images, you can quickly recommend this photo to your friends by clicking the +1 button.
Serving as a recommendation tool, content that have been +1′d by your Google+ contacts will be funneled and made visible to you during searches conducted on Google. For instance, we tested the feature and +1′d an image we found on Image Search. Removing your mouse over the image will make it revert back to its thumbnail size, with the name of the user’s who +1′d it overlaid on top of it. In addition to this, you will also be able to view all images along with the other content and search result links you +1′d on your Google+ profile page’s +1 tab.
